Hello, Everyone, who has supported my efforts to feed and provide medical care for the people in the Guinea neighborhood into which I was so warmly welcomed and protected during the brutal military crackdown last year: My neighborhood was the Ratoma district mentioned in this article. The people who treated me like family now do not eat everyday or only eat one low-quality meal a day.
I am sorry to bother you with yet another article about Guinea, but I am compelled to do so by what I saw with my own eyes. Please read this article and pass on the information to others. If you want to make a donation for the purchase of rice for the people of Ratoma, I have contacts on the ground there who can make sure that food is distributed to those who need it which is almost everyone. This summer, youth from across the Carolinas, and hopefully from all over the southeast, will be running listening projects in Jenkinsville, SC where South Carolina Electric & Gas currently operates a one reactor nuclear generating facility and has recently submitted permits to build two new reactors. Following the teachings of the Quakers, rocking SEN leaders will be knocking door-to-door asking for a little time with the folks directly impacted by the Virgil C Summer nuclear power station. Just a little time to listen, to be quiet, respectful, present, a little time to understand how the people living in Jenkinsville feel about the power station now and how they feel about the proposed expansion. If we're lucky, they'll be comfortable being honest with us; if we're genuine, we'll be comfortable hearing them, really hearing them.

"On Friday, June 20 the state of South Carolina executed a mentally handicapped inmate. The governor’s office refused to comment on the inmate’s mental condition.
“You can call the Department of Corrections and they can fill you in,” spokesman Joel Sawyer told City Paper when asked whether the governor was aware the man scheduled for execution, James Earl Reed, had an IQ of 77. The IQ range considered borderline or mildly mentally retarded is between the 70-79 range. The state allowed Reed to represent himself in court despite his mental condition."

Supreme Court ruled that lethal injection, which is the method of
execution used inmany states, including Georgia, is constitutional. The
State of Georgia is set to resume executions immediately. Troy Davis,
who is almost certainly innocent of the murder of which he was
convicted, could be executed at any time. Please help. Go to Amnesty International's action alert and send their letter to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles.
